What if the tangled cables sitting in your drawer at home could become works of art? In Nigeria, artist Patience Adekunle is transforming discarded electrical wires, broken chargers and damaged cables into striking portraits that challenge the way people think about waste. Sourcing materials from streets, gutters and electronics workshops, she carefully cleans, sorts and assembles hundreds of pieces into intricate creations. Her work highlights a growing global problem: electronic waste, one of the fastest-growing waste streams in the world. While art alone cannot solve the e-waste crisis, Adekunle’s works send a clear message: Waste is not just waste.
