Israel’s National Security Minister, Itamar Ben-Gvir, wants nearly all of Gaza’s Palestinian population to leave the territory under what he describes as a program of “voluntary emigration.”
His proposal would see 1.9 million people leave Gaza over the next seven years, with agreements negotiated with countries willing to receive them. However, none of the countries named by Ben-Gvir’s party have indicated any willingness to participate.
