President Donald Trump has said the US will form an “AI Force” and he will appoint a new AI czar, saying that the country should support the fast-growing artificial intelligence (AI) industry while targeting “bad actors.”
The proposal comes as leading AI executives, including OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and Anthropic’s Dario Amodei, have warned that powerful AI systems pose growing safety and security risks.
The debate has intensified after a recent AI-related cyber incident and amid new US efforts to discuss AI safety mechanisms with China.
