Three Ghanaian members of the LGBTQ+ community who sought safety in the United States say they were deported to Cameroon despite receiving legal protections against being returned to Ghana.
They are among 36 migrants sent to Cameroon under a US third-country deportation agreement. Now living under restrictions in Yaounde, unable to work and awaiting asylum decisions, they describe feeling stranded in a country where they have no ties.
Their case highlights growing concerns over US immigration policy, asylum protections and the fate of vulnerable deportees under the administration of President Donald Trump.
