Ukraine’s prosecutor general resigns amid graft probe

Ukraine’s Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko resigned late on Monday, days after anti-corruption agencies raided his office.

“This is a political decision. And I made it consciously,” Kravchenko posted on Telegram.

“I do not want the position of prosecutor general to be used as an instrument of political confrontation.”

Ukrainian authorities said they had uncovered a network allegedly led by an official in the Prosecutor General’s Office that took bribes to protect fraudulent call centers and laundered millions of dollars.

Kravchenko denied involvement, calling the allegations “completely unsubstantiated.”.

His resignation comes amid a series of corruption scandals involving senior Ukrainian officials as Kyiv continues its war against Russia.
