President Felix Tshisekedi is pushing for constitutional reforms in the Democratic Republic of Congo that critics say could open the door to a third presidential term. Several opposition parties and civil society groups are strongly opposing the move.
In May, opposition leaders formed the C64 coalition, named after Article 64 of the constitution, which gives citizens the right to resist unconstitutional attempts to seize power. Prominent figures including Martin Fayulu, Moise Katumbi, Jean-Marc Kabund and Delly Sesanga have accused Tshisekedi of attempting to extend his rule and have called for his resignation.
