Wildfires in France and Spain have forced tens of thousands of people to evacuate as extreme heat, drought and strong winds fuel rapidly spreading blazes.
Near Bordeaux, France, a major wildfire has destroyed more than 50 homes, a campsite and 10,000 hectares of land, with authorities warning the fire remains unpredictable and out of control.
In Spain, a national emergency has been declared as two large fires near Madrid threaten to merge.
Both countries have appealed to the European Union for support in tackling the crisis.
