PA MediaBritish rapper Yung Filly will face a retrial for rape in Australia next June after a jury failed to reach a verdict during an earlier trial.
In July, a jury acquitted the 31-year-old – whose real name is Andres Felipe Valencia Barrientos – of three counts of rape, one of assault and one of strangulation but found him guilty of two assault charges. No decision was reached for three other rape charges.
A female fan, aged 20 at the time, alleges Barrientos repeatedly raped and assaulted her in his hotel room in Perth, Western Australia, after a concert in 2024.
The court previously heard that Barrientos and the woman had consensual sex before she alleged it turned violent and he refused to stop.
On Friday, Perth’s District Court set 15 June as the start date for the retrial which is expected to last eight days.
Barrientos was not required to appear in court and is understood to have returned to the UK after the court granted him permission to leave Australia as part of his bail conditions.
Sentencing for the two assault charges that the jury found Barrientos guilty of in July will take place after the retrial.
Barrientos, who was born in Colombia and brought up in the UK, is known for his work with the YouTube collective Beta Squad.
He has appeared in the celebrity version of Bake Off on Channel 4 and presented BBC Three shows.
