A high-speed train crash in Spain‘s Toledo province has become one of Europe’s deadliest rail disasters in recent years. Dozens were killed and more than 100 injured when a train struck a stationary service from behind. Authorities are investigating why both trains were allowed to move despite technical problems. The tragedy, Spain’s second fatal rail collision in less than a year, has intensified scrutiny of railway safety and added political pressure on Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez ahead of parliamentary elections.
