The deal with Venezuela would give the US majority control of 65 billion barrels of recoverable oil, US President Donald Trump said on Friday.
Venezuela has the world’s largest proven reserves. Its government has operated under intense pressure from the Trump administration since US forces kidnapped its longtime ruler Nicolas Maduro at the beginning of this year.
Who is likely to benefit, and who might lose from a deal like this?
