The Afghanistan women’s national football team was once a symbol of female emancipation in their home country. But when the Taliban returned to power, the team was dismantled and its players forced into exile. Ever since, Najma Arefi and her teammates have been fighting for the right to represent their home country in international competition. Now, Najma is preparing to begin her studying in her new home, England. Her dream is to become a human rights lawyer. And at the same time, she now finally has the chance to play football for her country at the international level.
